Farewell rain...

So, In 9 days i leave the glorious sunny Newcastle (yes i say this is jest) and make my way over to the beautiful Knoxville, Tennessee, to begin 8 weeks of MA Research and, in my opinion, a well earned holiday.
After buying plane tickets back in October i have slowly saved up and counted down first the months, then weeks now the days until i jet off into the sunset. Yes this trip is mainly for research, but, you can't have all work and no play can you now? But as for the research part of the trip I will be having interviews and discussions with 4 country music singer/songwriters out in Knoxville and looking at how their creation of country music is influenced by different variables such as location, wealth and age. Some may say that is the "boring" part of the trip but in a way i am looking forward to getting stuck in.

After leaving the UK on the 20th June I will arrive in Atlanta and be met by the delightful MaryBeth who will be my partner in crime/babysitter whilst i'm out there and by the time she deposits me back at Atlanta airport in August we will have been to Disney World Florida, Tampa to swim with Dolphins, NYC to be complete tourists and climb the Empire State building and been to North Carolina and Canada- amongst day-tripping it to Washington DC, Niagara Falls, Nashville and most importantly in my eyes; hung out at Dollywood. Before i get there the most terrifying part will be navigating myself through Heathrow Airport which is a daunting task for a girl who struggles with left and rights- and to think only this evening i got granted a Visa by the American Government!
I guess the point of this blog is just to keep everyone, well those who want to know what i am up to- some of you maybe thinking thank heavens she has disappeared for a while! But for those who are interested i'll try and keep this updated as best as possibly with what I will be doing whilst over there- but before all that I got to make it out there in one piece and not somehow end up in Australia, so fingers crossed everyone!
